In August, I went on a trip to the Netherlands, where I painted murals with a fantastic family in a beautiful thatched house in the countryside in the Netherlands.
The corridor areas had white and light gray walls. The stairs had a black floor, railing and handrail, and the contrast with the light surfaces was a bit harsh. They wanted to soften the area a bit with a mural, where nature was drawn inside. The mural had to be simple and calm. It must not become dominating and noisy, but must be poetic and understated.
The mural became botanical, with plants and flowers. A small red toboggan and a butterfly also crept into the painting. the family had beehives in the backyard, and therefore small bees also entered the painting.
It was a calm and adventurous botanical mural that created atmosphere and surprising experiences with lots of small details when you went up the stairs to the 1st floor.
