The new bar Lumé in the heart of Copenhagen has already garnered attention in the city's cocktail and café scene. The initiative was created by Lars Seier Christensen and creative collaborator Mikkel Westergaard, and the concept unfolds as a place that is both a café, wine bar, and cocktail spot – from afternoon to late evening, with an open, inviting atmosphere and a modern interpretation of the bar experience in Copenhagen. falstaff.com

I had the pleasure of decorating the entire bar space with art and ornamentation, where I let botanical motifs and organic forms create the setting for guests' experience. Walls, doors, and mirrors are painted with a light, bright, and airy expression that evokes a sense of presence and calm. The ceiling bears a subtle, feminine touch in pink hues that softly ties the room's elements together.

My approach to the bar's visual identity has been to create a holistic experience, where art is not just decoration, but an integral part of the venue's character. The botanical paintings serve as an organic backdrop for the bar's architecture and create a visual dialogue between the interior design, light, and guests' movements through the space.

Lumé is a space that invites both a quiet cup of coffee in the afternoon and a sophisticated cocktail experience in the evening. The combination of timeless art and a modern bar experience makes the place truly special in the heart of Copenhagen, and I am proud to have contributed to shaping its visual identity.

The interior design supports the bar's own ambitions to combine creativity, craftsmanship, and an open, inclusive atmosphere. With the gentle presence of art throughout the space, Lumé becomes a destination where aesthetics and social experience merge – a place that feels both present and elegant.

Even the toilet doors feature painted art. Here, art is used to nudge which toilet door guests choose. The doors to the urinal and toilet are visualized with bees and flowers, respectively.

Bar Lumé's signature drink is hand-painted with art. Each glass is unique and painted with green branches that intertwine up the glass and across the base.
