How do you choose the right painting for your home?

A painting is not just a decoration – it is a mood, a story and a presence that moves in with you. When you choose art for your home, it is not just about colors and sizes, but about the energy of the painting and how the work speaks to you and supports the atmosphere you want to create around you.

I work with paintings that are inspired by the basic forms and connections of nature. My works are based on the organic, in patterns from both the microscopic and cosmic level with a softness and calm that invites contemplation.

How do you choose the right painting for your home?

The most important thing when choosing a painting is to feel it. Art is personal. It should awaken something in you – a feeling, a calmness, a recognition. Some of my clients say that they “just knew” which painting was right for them. Others discover that there are paintings that “sneak in” on them, where it takes a while for the painting to grow and feel right. It may be that you initially have a fixed opinion about what it should be, but then discover that it is something else that ends up feeling right.

Forget about rules about colors that “fit” or trends that you feel you should follow. Instead, think about what mood you want to create in the space. Should it feel light and open? Calm and sensual? Or maybe deep and concentrated? My paintings often contain movement and balance – and many experience them as both calm and vibrant at the same time.

Choose the size of the painting according to the wall and surroundings.

A large painting can be a strong focal point in a room, while a smaller work can create a more intimate atmosphere. Measure the wall and think about how you move in the room. Where does the eye naturally land? Where do you want to create focus or calm? I am happy to help visualize the work in your space if you are in doubt.

My paintings often work with earthy hues and deep color schemes, which make them easy to integrate into many types of spaces. The colors in a work can either support the other elements of the room or create contrast and edge. A cool room can be warmed up with a work in organic, golden tones – or vice versa.

An original painting deserves space. Don't hang it too close to other pictures unless it's part of a well-considered gallery wall. Light, shadow and surroundings affect how the work is experienced, and when it's given space, the details stand out better.

My goal is always to create something that feels alive and sensual – something you can return to again and again and still discover new layers in.

If you need some advice, I'm happy to show you suggestions or help you find the right piece for your home. I'm happy to come to your home and display paintings on your wall, and you can also borrow paintings to take home for a test drive before you decide.
