It is all about taking control, greed and dominance. Insects' vast diversity of form, function and life play a significant role in ecology. As pollinators, they contribute to the reproduction of most flowering plants. Insects are often important food for other animals, or they can be the ones flying in huge swarms eating everything on their way.
We need them. We are fascinated and scared by their influence despite their small sizes. Some pollinate and bring food to the world. When they work together, they can suck the life out of a rice field in a short time, and some of them bite with poison or carry deadly diseases. The small ones win over the great. Size does not really matter. Everything is a balance. The power is uncertain and nothing in the world is all good or bad.
In powerful abstract sceneries, the paintings tell stories about the insect ecology in the Indonesian fauna. The insects take control, hide behind the scene or spread their wings to look their best and seduce us. They take or bring life into the world.
The abstract sceneries symbolise the nature around and within us. We are nature. The veins in our bodies are shaped like the branches of
a tree. And all forms of life consist of cells. Everything is built on the same formula and with small differences it repeats in all sizes. In a complex system, everything is subjected to the laws of nature.
